From October 29 to November 13, 1934, the Central Red Army passed through Rucheng and fought bravely in more than 20 battles, whether large or small, breaking down more than 100 bunkers with more than 9,700 casualties.

 

With support from Rucheng people, they successfully broke through the second blockade. In Rucheng, Mao Zedong and Zhu De co-signed a manifesto titled “Where is the Way Out”. The Central Red Army started blocking battles like Xianrenya, Shixingling and Qingshizhai.

 

There were touching stories including “a Debt Note” and “Seven Soldiers Jumping off the Cliff”, with historic sites like Qingshizhai trenches, fortifications and command posts, wartime rescue station, the Red Army Martyrs Tombs, the Long March Trail and food delivery point.

 

To carry forward the great spirit of the Long March and inherit the red gene, Rucheng County Party Committee and the County Government have scientifically planned and carried out protective restoration of the historic sites in the exhibition area, with facilities like the Debt Collection Chamber, “the Promise of a Debt Note” Thematic Exhibition Hall, the Monument of the Central Red Army Breaking through the Second Blockade of the Long March, the Red Army Martyrs Tombs, Yongjun Square, statues and Long March Trail.

 

Yanshou Yao Township used to be a poverty-stricken village at the provincial level. With the help of the Party committees and governments at all levels, the whole village was lifted out of poverty in 2018. In 2020, 458 people from 127 poverty-stricken households registered in the village were all lifted out of poverty, with the per capita annual income reaching 16,000 yuan.

 

After the completion and opening of Qingshizhai Red Base in September 2020, the infrastructure construction of Yanshou has been promoted, with the great expansion of employment modes and improvement of living conditions.
